Blue Ridge Violins

Our Story

In 1972, Gene Freeman began repairing and restoring instruments out of his house, offering a small selection of strings and accessories to the local community. Gene opened the retail location of Blue Ridge Violins in 1998 and it quickly became the "go-to" place for students, professionals, and everyone in between.

In 2022, after studying Music Business at Appalachian State University and managing music stores in Charlotte, NC, Andrea Barklage became the new owner and director of Blue Ridge Violins.

"I was six years old when we purchased my first violin in the same shop where I am now honored to serve your string needs. After playing and teaching for many years, I am thrilled to continue the legacy Gene created by continuing to provide high-quality local options." - Andrea Barklage

We have strings and accessories in stock and are continuing to update the shop, stop in to see the new look!
